Description

An original pair of World War II United States Army Air Forces USAAF Type A-3 heavy sheepskin-lined leather flying trousers. These high-altitude flight trousers, commonly referred to as flight bibs or overalls, were designed for bomber crew members to endure freezing temperatures during missions.

The trousers feature a dark brown leather exterior with a thick, cream-colored shearling sheepskin lining. The design includes full-length double-sided metal leg zippers running along the outer seams to allow easy donning over flight boots, dark brown leather patch pockets on the lower front shins, and adjustable elasticized canvas suspenders with leather connector tabs.

An original woven specification label is stitched inside the upper bib area. The visible text on the label reads:
TYPE A-3
DWG. NO. 33H5595
ORDER NO. 42-20890
PROPERTY
