Description
A late 19th-century United States Marine Corps woven canvas cartridge belt manufactured under the Anson Mills patent by Thomas C. Orndorff. The belt is constructed from heavy black woven webbing and features ten integrated black leather cartridge loops secured with brass rivets, designed for large-bore ammunition or shotgun shells. The hardware consists of two sliding brass adjustment keepers and a brass interlocking H-pattern buckle. The front of the buckle features an applied brass USMC Eagle, Globe, and Anchor (EGA) emblem of the period. The reverse of the female buckle component is incised with the manufacturer’s mark: ANSON MILLS, PAT. FEB. 1, 1881. T.C. ORNDORFF SOLE MANF. WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A. An interior fastener stud is marked: PAT. OCT. 31, 93.
Length: Adjustable, currently set between 33 and 35 inches. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos.
