Description
A portable United States military headquarters field desk designed for administrative use in operational environments. The unit is constructed as a ruggedized transit chest made of heavy fiberboard or vulcanized fiber panels reinforced with metal edging and corner guards secured by rivets. The exterior is finished in olive drab paint. The front panel opens to reveal a tiered internal organizational system containing six original drawers. The interior drawers consist of two small top drawers stenciled IN and OUT, two medium drawers stenciled SERVICE RECORDS, and two large bottom drawers stenciled FILE. The filing drawers include fixed internal dividers for document organization. Exterior hardware features multiple spring-loaded metal latches for secure closure and large folding metal carry handles on the sides. A metal chain is attached to the front panel, intended for a padlock. Stenciled markings on the lid include U.S. and the front panel is marked DESK, FIELD, HEADQUARTERS along with THIS SIDE UP. A secondary unit or inventory marking 57 SUP is stenciled in orange paint on the front and top. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
