Description
This collection features a variety of United States Army field equipment, clothing, and rations from the mid-20th century. The primary piece of equipment is an M1945 pattern upper combat field pack manufactured from olive drab cotton canvas with adjustable webbing straps and metal hardware. The ration components include a sealed Long Range Patrol food packet, Menu No. 5, Chicken Stew, housed in a dark olive drab foil pouch. A group of vintage canned goods is included, featuring fruit cake packed by Morton House Kitchens, Inc., white bread packed by American Bread Company, chicken boned packed by Tony Downs Foods Company, fortified peanut butter packed by Stevens Industries, Inc., and damson plum jam. Several loose, broken cracker fragments are present alongside a portion of a cardboard Meal, Combat, Individual ration box. The clothing consists of a pair of khaki cotton twill trousers with a button fly and an internal size 34 tag, white cotton boxer shorts marked with the name R. P. Mason, and a khaki cotton necktie. Several olive drab cotton web belts are included, featuring various buckle designs such as a black friction-style buckle and brass buckles, one of which is stamped with a star. The trousers include a modern barcode sticker on the waistband labeled DBC 4406776. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
