Description
This is a large collection of United States Navy (USN) enlisted insignia, rating badges, and associated equipment, primarily dating from the mid-20th century, including the WWII and post-war eras. The lot includes a wide variety of Petty Officer rating badges across various ranks: Chief Petty Officer (CPO), Petty Officer 1st Class (PO1), Petty Officer 2nd Class (PO2), and Petty Officer 3rd Class (PO3). Specialty ratings represented include Boatswain’s Mate (crossed anchors), Quartermaster (ship wheel), Gunner’s Mate (crossed cannons), Storekeeper (crossed keys), Radioman (four lightning bolts), Signalman (crossed flags), Hospital Corpsman (caduceus and Red Cross variants), Electrician’s Mate (globe and gear), and Machinist’s Mate (propeller). One Machinist’s Mate patch is marked with M and O flanking the specialty mark. Construction materials include navy blue wool with red or white embroidery, khaki twill with bullion or thread embroidery, and white cotton or twill with black or blue embroidery. The collection also contains several sets of service stripes (hash marks). Included equipment features two vintage brass or plated metal boatswain pipes attached to a white braided lanyard, and a black leather strap. A partially obscured rocker patch is marked U.S.S. A plastic storage bag is labeled VFW Smoke Room.
The wooden ruler measures 18 inches in length. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
