Description
A US Army marksmanship qualification badge of the Model 1904 pattern. The two-piece construction is made of gold-plated brass or bronze. The upper rectangular bar features a textured, pebbled background with embossed lettering reading EXPERT RIFLEMAN, flanked by decorative foliate end-caps. Suspended from two integral rings on the bar is a lower pendant consisting of two crossed rifles, modeled after the M1903 Springfield rifle, superimposed over a circular laurel wreath. The reverse of the top bar is hand-engraved in script reading Capt. Geo. E. Hoffe. The reverse of the wreath pendant is hand-engraved at the base with the date 1915. The badge utilizes a horizontal pin with a C-style catch for attachment.
