Description
A collection of four vintage military uniform shoulder sleeve insignia and souvenir patches representing the United States Air Force and the Republic of Korea Army. The first item is a 1607th USAF Hospital Medical Squadron Section patch, associated with the Military Air Transport Service at Dover Air Force Base, active between 1953 and 1966. It is a shield-shaped, fully embroidered patch featuring a light blue field, white bird over a red cross, globe, and gold-colored caduceus. Inscriptions include the Latin motto PRIMUM EST OFFICIUM, 1607th USAF HOSP, and MED SQN SECT. The second item is a theater-made souvenir patch featuring KOREA in gold-tone metal bullion wire over a red and navy blue felt Korean Taeguk motif. The reverse of this patch includes a paper backing with a circular red ink stamp containing Hanja characters, including characters for Special and Permit. The third item is a Republic of Korea Army Capital Division patch, known as the Fierce Tiger Division. It is a shield-shaped green patch with a stylized yellow, black, and white roaring tiger head. The fourth item is a Republic of Korea Army 20th Infantry Division patch, known as the Chollima or Flying Horse Division. This circular blue felt patch features a white silhouette of a winged horse within a broken circular border.
