Description
This collection features an assortment of vintage and antique buttons of various materials and origins. A primary component of the lot consists of numerous vintage salesman sample cards marked MADE IN CZECHO-SLOVAKIA, including cards labeled Achaty and Exquisit, displaying faceted, marbled, and geometric glass buttons in a range of colors and finishes. The collection includes mid-to-late 18th-century-style brass buttons constructed with wood and bone bases, and a Birchcroft Fine Bone China button embellished with 18k gold. Also present are contemporary handmade ceramic buttons by Kate Holliday, including a piece produced for Liberty’s of London, and novelty JHB International horn and stone elephant buttons. A group of loose, ornately carved black buttons, likely glass or jet, is also included.
