Description
An extensive collection of vintage and antique buttons featuring a diverse range of materials and styles, mounted and labeled on a green display board. The assortment includes specimens crafted from silver, copper, brass, aluminum, steel, enamel, glass, china, and fabric. Organic materials are represented by ivory, vegetable ivory, shell, wood, leather, tortoise shell, and a carved jade piece featuring Chinese characters for peace. Early synthetic materials include celluloid, acrylic, and phenolic (Bakelite). Notable items include a silver button marked Spratlin Taxco, a Gutta Percha specimen, and a C & C Glass Popper. The buttons are presented with descriptive labels such as Plated livery, Screen back with enamel and steels, and Veg. Ivory Whistle.
