Description
An extensive collection of antique and vintage buttons presented on multiple display cards and felt-covered boards. The assortment includes a wide variety of materials such as vegetable ivory, celluloid, horn, painted horn, bone, wood, and shell. Decorative techniques observed include carving, inlay, floral motifs, and geometric patterns. Several items feature specialized finishes, including metallic lustre and composition with shell. Handwritten notations on the mounting boards provide classifications for the materials and styles, with one section specifically designated as Whistles Medium. The buttons are arranged in various configurations for exhibition or study purposes.
Display boards approximately 9 by 12 inches Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
