Description
This collection of vintage novelty buttons features a diverse array of figurative designs, commonly known as realistics. These items are buttons primarily constructed from celluloid and other early plastics, with some pieces showing characteristics consistent with Bakelite. The assortment includes various botanical forms such as roses, lilies, leaves, and fruit including pears and apples. Faunal representations include birds and insects, including one piece identified by handwritten text on the card as a Weeber Moth. Other miscellaneous objects depicted include hats, footballs, a tea cup, a pitcher, and two mahjong-style tiles featuring characters including South (南). Several buttons exhibit decorative enhancements such as hand-painted details, metallic finishes, and inset rhinestones. The group is mounted on a blue display card labeled Realistics Celluloid.
The display card measures approximately 9 inches in height. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
