Description
A pair of cast metal bookends in the Animalier style, after the Lion au Serpent by Antoine-Louis Barye. Each bookend depicts a lion pinning a coiled serpent, set upon an integral stepped rectangular base. The pieces are finished with a dark bronze-toned patina and feature green felt on the undersides. A numerical stamp reading (512) is located on the rear of the base. The construction reveals a gray-toned metal substrate beneath the surface finish.
