This collection consists of multiple late 19th and early 20th-century American commemorative medals and ribbons, primarily associated with the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) and the Veteran Union League (V.U.L.) of Chicago. The items represent various historical events and veterans’ organizations within Illinois, featuring specific mentions of Quincy, Peoria, Galesburg, Evanston, and Rockford. Key items include a purple silk V.U.L. souvenir banner with gold-toned tassels, an 1890 ribbon for the 24th Annual Encampment in Quincy, an 1885 ribbon from the 19th Annual Encampment in Peoria, and an In Memoriam ribbon for General John A. Logan Post No. 540 in Evanston. The group also contains Illinois State Fair medals from 1900 and 1902, a 1911 Department Commander medal for Christopher C. Duffy, and various pins with enamel work. Materials include bronze and silver-toned metals, silk, and satin. Many pieces are accompanied by handwritten paper identification tags. The collection is housed in a black Riker-style display case. Burns in-house shipping is available. Pick up is Friday, March 27 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
