Description
This collection features 41 antique decorative buttons, categorized as clothing hardware, mounted on a professional collector display card. The buttons are constructed of enameled metal in the toleware tradition, featuring a high-gloss black finish. Each button is adorned with intricate gold-tone etched or painted designs. The motifs are highly varied, showcasing naturalistic and architectural themes including birds, butterflies, floral sprays, pagodas, windmills, fans, and geometric patterns. The buttons are secured to a heavy white cardstock base with hand-drawn circular guides arranged in a diamond-shaped grid. This collection exemplifies the ornamental fastener designs of the late 19th to early 20th centuries, reflecting the popular aesthetic interests of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The display card measures approximately 11.5 by 8.5 inches. Individual buttons are approximately 0.75 inches in diameter. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
