Description
This curated collection consists of several dozen antique and vintage sewing buttons presented on a light-colored display board. The assortment features a diverse range of molded glass specimens, including multiple pieces identified as opaline glass. The collection is notable for its variety of decorative techniques, including hand-painted details, gilded accents, and intricate molded patterns. Key pictorial pieces include a transfer or painted scene of a rustic house and an ornate robed figure. The buttons showcase various historical manufacturing techniques for glass fasteners, with specific shank constructions noted such as two-way humps, loop-in-plate, and four-way box shanks with and without grooves. Designs range from late Victorian floral motifs and starbursts to mid-century geometric patterns. The mounting board includes descriptive labels and handwritten notations regarding the mechanical construction of the shanks. Display board measures approximately 11 inches in height. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
