Description
This collection features an assortment of antique and vintage shoe buttons dating from approximately 1865 to 1915. These items are buttons mounted on three white cardstock display and reference cards intended for study or exhibition. One card serves as a categorized reference guide, organizing buttons by material including glass, china, leather, wood, composition, papier-mâché, and vegetable ivory. This card includes a felt applique illustration of a period buttoned boot. A second card displays buttons in a grid and along the closure of a line-drawn high-heel boot. A third card contains a large group of buttons in various colors, sizes, and patterns, including a black-and-white striped example.
