Description
A collection of antique Victorian sporting buttons featuring various embossed and high-relief animal motifs. The motifs include depictions of horses, hounds, foxes, deer, and game birds. The buttons are constructed from a variety of materials including brass, gilt metal, white metal, horn, and composite materials. Notable examples include a small enameled button with a canine motif and buttons with specific backmarks such as Paris Back and V.H.T & Sons Gilt. Some items are associated with a Hunt Club as indicated by inscriptions. The collection is presented on two display boards with handwritten descriptive annotations.
The larger display board measures approximately 9 inches in width. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. We will charge a $5 fee if you want to pick this lot up another day. Once packed up we will send you an invoice for shipping & handling. Shipping questions: [email protected].
