Description
A collection of vintage tortoise glass buttons featuring a variety of mottled amber and deep brown tones. The assortment includes diverse forms such as round, faceted, rectangular, and cylindrical shapes. Many pieces exhibit intricate decorative elements including molded floral motifs, geometric patterns, and metallic overlays or inlays in gold and silver tones. Specialized craftsmanship is evident in pieces with star designs and textured surfaces. One specific example is noted as having a screen back construction. The buttons are mounted on a tan display board with handwritten notations regarding shank materials, including references to steel and rust. These items are buttons manufactured using techniques typical of the late 19th to early 20th century.
