Description
This collection of antique Victorian-era picture buttons features various intricate relief designs mounted on a display card. These items are buttons crafted from stamped and cast metals, including brass, and display a range of motifs such as botanical elements, birds, lions, classical profiles, and figurative scenes. Notable examples include a person with a fan, a helmeted classical profile, and a scene titled The Letter. Several buttons are accompanied by handwritten tags providing descriptive titles and references to the Big Book of Buttons (BBB) reference text, including Bee Visiting a Flower and Basket of flowers and garden hat. The construction includes relief-stamped metal, with some examples featuring applied brass designs on darkened or textured grounds.
