Description

This collection of Victorian-era decorative metal buttons features a variety of relief-molded designs, primarily struck in brass, copper, and silver-toned alloys. The assortment includes several picture buttons depicting figural and narrative scenes, with specific motifs identified by handwritten notations as the Trumpeter of Säckingen, Paul and Virginia, and Fanny Davenport with an umbrella. Other subjects represented in the group include various birds, insects, stags, and stylized floral patterns, alongside architectural landscapes. One button displays an openwork design accented with clear faceted paste stones. Several pieces include references to the Big Book of Buttons for identification, and one is noted to have a Paris backmark. These items are buttons presented on a labeled display board.
