Description
A collection of Division I antique pictorial metal buttons mounted on a white card. The buttons are crafted from various metals, including brass and silver-tone alloys, with some featuring patinated, enameled, or blackened finishes. The relief-molded designs encompass a wide range of motifs such as architectural landscapes, classical figures, mythological scenes, and historical events. A prominent button depicts Jeanne Laisne, annotated on the card as Jean LA Hache, the French heroine defending Beauvais. Other designs include a figure with a gear wheel, maritime imagery, and various buildings. The buttons vary in size and many feature decorative borders. The backing card includes handwritten historical references and cataloging notes.
Mounting card: 10 inches (height) Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
