Description
Established as Torpedo Squadron Seventeen (VT-17) on January 1,1943. This patch is paint on canvas. Measures 6.5″ in diameter.This patch was used on VT-17’s first war cruise but was ultimately not approved by the CNO – Office of the Chief of Naval Operations) and was replaced by an insignia featuring a shamrock, horseshoe and torpedo (see lot # ). VT-17 was deployed above the USS Bunker Hill (equipped with TBF-1 Avenger) and also on the USS Hornet (Equipped with TBM-3 Avenger). Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
