World War One lithograph propaganda poster created in August 1918 by Marcel Falter to encourage the citizens of France to subscribe to the National Defense Loan. The artwork in this poster depicts a French soldier strangling the Imperial German eagle. This poster is mounted on linen and measures 47″ x 31.5″. There is some minor edge and corner wear as visible in the photographs along with a few small ( 1/4 inch – 1/2 inch) areas of loss that do not affect the subjects. The title reads, “Pour le Supreme Effort (For the Supreme Effort).  The bottom caption reads “Emprunt National Societe Generale” (National Loan. Societe Generale bank). Printed in the lower left corner is Visa No. 13216.  Printed in the lower right corner is IMP. CHAIX_ PARIS_ 8-18 (Encre Lorilleux). The artist’s signature “M. Falter appears in the bottom left quadrant and beneath that is “ATELIEN PICHON” “Pinchon Workshop”.  Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
