Description

A collection of mid-20th-century 8mm film reels and corresponding metal canisters documenting railroad and transit themes. The canisters, finished in shades of grey and tan, feature extensive hand-written annotations referencing years between 1939 and 1948. Documented subjects include NKP and NYC, Shaker Heights Railway, Edaville Canal Line Excursion, and 2-foot gauge lines in Maine. One canister contains a film titled Reminder To Dairymen produced by John Colburn Associates, Inc. for Babson Bros. The reels are constructed from both metal and plastic and contain black and white film stock. Leader tape features further hand-written descriptive notes, including references to Fairmount Blvd, Shaker Heights Rapid Transit, and the 1948 Chicago Railroad Fair. The film stock displays the ANSCO manufacturer mark. Backlit views reveal frames depicting vintage streetcars and outdoor transit scenes. Burns in-house shipping is available. Pick up is Saturday, Feb. 28 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
