This collection includes two World War I era olive drab wool overseas caps. One cap contains a cloth sweatband with stamped markings for size 7 1/8, Fine Cap Works, and the date 1918. The second cap is constructed with a yellow fabric lining and a leather sweatband. Accompanying the headgear is a brass military whistle featuring a cork pea and stamped markings for Military and Made in USA. The group also contains an oxidized lead Minie ball bullet and a celluloid pinback button. The pinback was manufactured by The Ohio Badge Co. in Columbus, Ohio, and is dated June 5, 1917, featuring patriotic motifs and the text Have Registered Ready To Do My Part. Completing the lot is a 1913 revised edition souvenir booklet titled Gettysburg: The Pictures and the Story, published by Tipton & Blocher. This string-tied publication includes historical illustrations, text regarding the battlefield, and Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address on the back cover.
