Description
US Army M-1943 (Pattern 1943) field jacket constructed of Olive Drab #7 cotton sateen. The jacket features the standard four-pocket configuration including two pleated chest pockets and two large bellows cargo pockets at the hips. Design elements include shoulder epaulets, a convertible notched collar with a throat latch for cold weather protection, and adjustable button-tab cuffs. This specific example has been modified with the addition of a metal zipper closure installed behind the standard button-front storm flap, a common period field modification. The garment is accompanied by a removable, button-in wool and alpaca pile liner in a dark olive-grey color. The buttons throughout are standard US military four-hole brown plastic. A rectangular stitched outline is visible in the neck area of the liner where a size and contract label was originally attached, but all original manufacturer or military specification labels are currently missing. No unit patches, rank insignia, or name tapes are present. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
