Lot 25128:
Description
This lot consists of a United States Army Parachutist Badge, commonly known as Jump Wings, dating from the World War II to early post-war period. The badge is crafted from sterling silver and features the basic parachutist design of an open parachute canopy flanked by two outspread wings. Centered on the parachute canopy is a single bronze combat jump star, which signifies the original wearer’s participation in one combat airborne operation. The reverse of the badge features a horizontal pin-back assembly with a rotating locking safety clasp, a construction style prevalent during the 1940s. The reverse is struck with the mark STERLING below the pin. There are no additional manufacturer hallmarks present.
