Description
This collection of United States military awards consists of decorations and service medals primarily from the early to mid-20th century. Featured is a Silver Star medal with a centered laurel wreath on the obverse and the reverse inscription FOR GALLANTRY IN ACTION. The grouping includes a Distinguished Service Cross, composed of a bronze eagle on a cross with a scroll reading VALOR. Two Bronze Star medals are present, both bearing the reverse inscription HEROIC OR MERITORIOUS ACHIEVEMENT. Also included is a World War I Victory Medal suspended from a rainbow ribbon with two bronze clasps labeled PATROL and MINE LAYING; the reverse is inscribed THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION followed by a list of allied nations including FRANCE, ITALY, SERBIA, JAPAN, MONTENEGRO, RUSSIA, GREECE, GREAT BRITAIN, BELGIUM, BRAZIL, PORTUGAL, RUMANIA, and CHINA. Several Army Good Conduct Medals are included, featuring the words EFFICIENCY HONOR FIDELITY on the obverse and FOR GOOD CONDUCT on the reverse. The medals are struck in bronze and other base metals, some with a gold-tone finish, and are suspended from period fabric ribbons with pin-back fasteners.

Individual medal height: approximately 3 inches. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
