Description
This World War II-era U.S. military foot locker or equipment chest is manufactured from wood with a weathered olive drab paint finish and reinforced with metal edging and corner protectors. The interior of the lid is marked with a black ink stamp reading AMERICAN HARDWARE CO. INC. / 1942. The chest is designed with three heavy-duty rear hinges, two front draw latches, and a central locking hasp. The interior contains a removable wooden tray divided into two compartments and includes a metal lid-stay. An additional faded black stencil reading S D is present on the underside of the base. The construction features riveted metal reinforcements along the perimeter and corners.
