July Military Auction
Lot 25059:
Description
A pair of early to mid-20th century tall brown leather military service boots, resembling the style worn by US or British officers during World War I. The boots are constructed from heavy-duty brown leather and feature a dual-lacing system, with traditional lacing at the instep and a secondary lace-up section at the top of the shaft for calf adjustment. The construction includes metal eyelets and period-appropriate woven cloth laces. A distinctive rectangular stitched reinforcement patch is present on the outer shaft of each boot. The footwear is built with layered leather soles fitted with metal horseshoe-style heel taps and metal toe taps for increased durability. While stamps or markings may be present on the interior or soles, they are not clearly legible due to wear. These boots are characteristic of the private purchase field boots often acquired by officers for service in the early 20th century.
