Description

This lot consists of two original United States Marine Corps M1942 reversible camouflage helmet covers designed for the M1 steel helmet. Both covers feature the “Frogskin” pattern, showcasing a green-dominant jungle side and a tan-dominant beach side. One cover features a stamped manufacturer mark on a tan-side foliage flap that identifies the producer as the Blue Ridge Overall Co., Inc. and includes the contract number W-30-154-QM-26. The covers are constructed from heavy herringbone twill cotton fabric with the characteristic petal-shaped flaps used to secure the cover between the helmet shell and liner. Each cover includes factory-finished buttonhole-style foliage slits meant for inserting natural camouflage. A distinctive navy blue zigzag reinforcement stitch is present along the center seam of the tan side, a known trait of wartime production by the Blue Ridge Overall Co.
