July Military Auction
Lot 25049:
Description
This United States Marine Corps military helmet assembly consists of an early-production M1 steel shell, a high-pressure plastic liner, and a reversible camouflage cloth cover. The steel shell is a front-seam, fixed-bail model featuring original olive drab canvas chinstraps with early-style brass hardware. The camouflage cover is a reversible P42 frogskin pattern, currently displayed with the tan beach side facing outward. Based on the stenciled Eagle, Globe, and Anchor (EGA) insignia on the crown and market consensus, the cover is attributed to the Blue Anchor Overall Co. 1953 contract. The interior features a period-correct high-pressure liner with a khaki cotton webbing suspension system, a three-eyelet nape strap, and a leather sweatband. The liner includes a leather chinstrap with a blackened brass buckle. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos.
