Description
A late 19th-century mechanical coin bank manufactured by J. & E. Stevens, identified as the Artillery Bank. The object is constructed of cast iron and features a standing soldier figure in uniform positioned behind a mortar-style cannon. The cannon is oriented toward a square tower with a textured, stone-patterned surface that serves as the coin receptacle. The base is prominently embossed with the title ARTILLERY BANK and retains visible traces of red and green polychrome paint. The underside reveals the internal mechanical components and a circular coin trap. A cast patent date of MAY 31 1892 is visible on the bottom plate.
