Description
An assortment of vintage and antique buttons presented on four thematic collector’s cards. The collection is organized by design and material, with boards titled Patterns, Fleur De Lis, and Interlaced Patterns. The buttons are crafted from a diverse range of materials including brass, silver-toned metal, glass, enamel, ceramic, wood, celluloid, mother-of-pearl, jade, bone, vegetable ivory, and fabric. Artisanal techniques such as filigree, enameling, intricate carving, reed caning, and paste work are represented. The Patterns board features typed descriptions and symbolic diagrams for geometric motifs including the tetraskelion, chevron, wave scroll, and zigzag line. The Fleur De Lis board displays various iterations of the heraldic lily in metal, glass, and carved materials. The Interlaced Patterns boards showcase basketweave, Celtic knots, and geometric interlacing. Some buttons are accompanied by descriptive labels identifying specific materials like Jade, Reed caning, Enamel Paste OME, and Veg. Ivory.
Total width of boards: approximately 35 inches Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
