Description
This collection features various vintage and antique buttons professionally mounted and labeled on a green display card. The assortment includes a wide array of materials and techniques such as silver with anchor motifs, Gutta Percha, silvered brass, fabric petit point, micro-mosaic glass, tortoise shell, and white metal commemorative pieces. Notable specimens include a blue enamel button featuring a polar bear inset with a real opal, a banded agate gemstone button, and a blue rectangular polyester button commemorating the Michigan Button Society in 1999. Other materials represented include bone, vegetable ivory, horn, cork, raffia, cinnabar, black glass, rubber, casein, and damascene. These items are buttons that showcase a broad range of button-making history and artistry, with techniques including pyrography on wood depicting a locomotive and various shank constructions.
