Description
This collection of vintage and antique buttons consists of an assortment of square and diamond-shaped examples presented on display boards. The group includes a variety of materials such as celluloid, phenolic resin, brass, copper, pewter, glass, wood, horn, and mother-of-pearl. Decorative styles range from simple geometric forms to intricate carved floral motifs, notably a large beige rose, as well as enamel work and inset glass stones. Certain pieces show Art Deco and Art Nouveau influences. The buttons are classified by accompanying labels with notations including Onyx and Jasper, steel cup, and phenolic with shell and cut steels. One large specimen is labeled as a three-material composition of celluloid, wood, and metal.
The primary display board measures approximately 8.5 inches in width. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
