Description
This curated collection consists of over fifty vintage glass buttons presented on a collector’s display board. The assembly highlights diverse glass-making traditions, most notably the millefiori technique featuring miniature floral canes embedded in clear and colored glass. Other notable examples include overlay glass, where layers of contrasting colors are fused, and aventurine glass containing sparkling metallic inclusions. The collection features a variety of shapes including round, oval, and faceted squares. Decorative elements include hand-painted floral sprays, internal swirls, and molded geometric patterns. Several specimens are categorized by the collector as botshank swirlback and surfaced glass, indicating a focus on technical construction. The color palette is exceptionally broad, featuring cobalt blue, emerald green, ruby red, and various opaque tones. These pieces are characteristic of mid-20th century European glass production, likely originating from centers in Czechoslovakia and West Germany, with some potential American studio examples. Display board measures approximately 11 inches by 9 inches. Individual button diameters range from approximately 0.25 inches to 1.25 inches.
