Description
This collection of buttons features an assortment of antique and vintage specimens set in metal rims or with metal backings. The items are constructed from white mother of pearl and iridescent abalone shell, featuring silver-tone and gold-tone metal finishes. The group displays various decorative techniques including etched geometric patterns, floral motifs, inset accents, and scalloped edges. Handwritten notations on the mounting card indicate the presence of Paris backmarks and suggest a 19th-century Golden Age provenance for certain pieces.
The mounting card measures approximately 8.5 inches in width.
Individual buttons range from approximately 0.25 inches to 1.25 inches in diameter. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
