Description

An assortment of antique and vintage buttons, including a significant selection of black glass examples. These are buttons meticulously organized and mounted on several display boards for exhibition. The collection represents a diverse array of materials, including various metals such as brass, silver, pewter, and aluminum; glass; natural substances including bone, ivory, horn, shell, wood, leather, and cork; and a range of early to modern synthetics like celluloid, bakelite, casein, phenolic, polyester, and nylon. One board is themed specifically around locks and keys, featuring buttons in those representational shapes, and is accompanied by a Second Prize award ribbon and entry card from the Buckeye State Button Society. Other boards display an assortment of patterns, including heraldic fleur-de-lis motifs, floral designs such as bearded and Dutch irises, and complex geometric or inlay work. Many items are individually labeled with details on material, style, and studio attribution, with names like B. Benson, Studio H. Darner, and Studio Fausey 04 noted.

Display board: 12 x 9 inches Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
