This collection of antique buttons features various manufacturing techniques and materials from the late 19th to early 20th century. The buttons are primarily fashioned from celluloid and ivorine, with several examples incorporating metal housings, inset glass, and rhinestones. The assortment includes perforated designs, pictorial motifs such as stars and anchors, and intricate floral filigree patterns. Some items exhibit imitation tortoiseshell finishes and enameled details. The collection is organized on four display cards with descriptive labels including Perforates Vic. Celluloid, Victorian Celluloid Backgrounds & Ivorine, and SM/Med. Vic. Celluloid in Metal. Handwritten notations on the cards indicate specific technical features such as rare steel technique, incised patterns, and imitation fabric textures. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
