Description
This collection of Victorian era buttons features an assortment of materials and decorative techniques. The group is predominantly crafted from mother-of-pearl and various shell types, exhibiting a range of iridescent lusters. Notable examples include a large leaf-shaped button with dark veining, several circular buttons with intricate floral and geometric carvings, and others accented with metal-toned rims or rhinestone borders. One button displays a small, hand-painted landscape scene. The collection exhibits diverse construction methods, including carving, piercing, painting, and metal inlay. The buttons are mounted on a light blue display card with circular cutouts.
