Why an auction?

An auctioneer's number one job is to sell your items for the most amount of money possible. You are his main concern. In contrast, selling valuables in a private sale, whether it be directly to dealers, to pawn shops, scrap metal dealers or others, casts your interests aside in favor of the buyer's desire to pay you as little as possible. If you don't have deep expertise about your items, how do you ever know you're getting the most for them? The answer: you don't.  When you sell at auction, however, you're selling to the highest bidder - in effect making all of those dealers, and experts, compete with each other for your valuables. The result? The best and fairest market price for your valuables.
